About the Project

Anantmool is committed to improving the lives of children facing adversity, focusing on their well-being and development. In partnership with the Azim Premji Foundation, we have launched the Rural Crèche Initiative, a transformative program designed to enhance the nutritional status and developmental milestones of children aged 7 months to 3 years.

This initiative provides comprehensive support through supplementary feeding, early childhood development programs, and ensuring access to essential entitlements critical for children’s growth. By prioritizing early intervention, we aim to address challenges such as growth faltering, underweight, and wasting in young children, with consistent follow-up to ensure their sustained well-being. Through this holistic approach, we strive to create nurturing environments where every child can thrive and reach their full potential, laying the foundation for a healthier and brighter future.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Graduate in any stream from a recognized university. But preference will be given who have done graduation in the related to Health, Nutrition and Early Childhood Education.
  • Basic computer skills are essential.
  • At least 3 years of experience in community-based programs, preferably in health and nutrition sectors.
  • A strong commitment to serving the community.
  • Must own a scooty/bike for travel.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Community Engagement and Crèche Setup:

  • Organize community meetings to establish crèches and identify suitable locations for their operation.
  • Develop strong relationships with local stakeholders, including PRIs, village heads, SHGs, VOs, parents/guardians, schools, and other organizations.
  • Collaborate with local officials to ensure seamless implementation of crèche activities.

2. Registration and Record Keeping:

  • Register children and capture their profiles upon entry into the crèche, maintaining detailed records in child cards.
  • Maintain a diary to document information about all children, particularly undernourished, severely undernourished, sick, and referred children.
  • Enter weekly attendance from caregivers’ registers and verify and update the cash book.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of Crèche Committee activities on a weekly basis.

3. Health and Growth Monitoring:

  • Record anthropometric measurements and maintain growth charts for all children as per protocol.
  • Conduct periodic quality checks of anthropometric measurements and ensure quarterly calibration of measuring instruments.
  • Conduct home visits for SAM (severely acute malnourished), underweight, and frequently ill children, ensuring timely follow-ups.

4. Supervision and Support:

  • Visit each crèche center twice in a week on a mandatory basis to provide guidance and support to caregivers.
  • Monitor and address issues related to training, infrastructure, and operational challenges at crèches.
  • Use monitoring forms to assess crèches during visits, capturing geocoordinates (latitude and longitude) and pictures during home visits.

5. Supplies and Resource Management:

  • Manage the supply and storage of essentials, including food (ration, vegetables, eggs, firewood, fruits), medicines, early childhood education materials, and registers.
  • Prepare weekly ration requisitions based on stock verification reports.

6. Training and Reviews:

  • Conduct monthly review meetings with Crèche Caregivers to discuss progress, challenges, and improvements.
  • Provide continuous training and capacity-building support to caregivers.

7. Health and Nutrition Coordination:

  • Facilitate access to routine immunizations, Vitamin A, IFA tablets, Albendazole, and other health services in collaboration with ICDS and health departments.
  • Support VHSND sessions and RBSK camps in crèche villages.
  • Track and monitor referred cases, ensuring follow-ups and health improvements.

8. Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure crèches comply with safety, security, and operational protocols.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports, maintain requisition and receipt records for each crèche, and fill MIS formats.
  • Ensure discipline and decorum in all crèches and address any shortcomings promptly.
